A seedling- sapling forest satisfies two deer needs:
1.concealment
2. food in the form of buds, stems, and leaves of shurbs and young trees.

Clearcutting should be restricted to areas where sufficent regeneration is present to guarantee a more stable forest environment.

When something is timber cut most things like den trees and mast trees should be left behind to make sure a good habitat is set for wildlife.

When treetops are cut, in winter months food is then unavailable.

The deer lies in new growth vegetation, succulent sprouts and seedlings. With the sunlights help the then flourish following the previous cutting.

Concealment is available for the deer for alot longer years after the browse has grown out.

In severe winter conditions it is sometimes necessary to build up conifer plantations.

Plantations are preferred to be small and ranging from 30-60 trees. They should be located in lower lands or on south facing slopes.
